Grand Prix 2D Is Ready for Download
Today is a small but important milestone for Fantasy Foundry Retro Lab: Grand Prix 2D is being prepared for public download.
The release is packaged as a single archive named GP2D.zip. It is intended both for players who simply want to run the game in DOSBox and for retro hardware users who want to write the included disk images back to real floppy disks.
What is included?
The archive contains the game files for direct use, plus floppy disk images prepared for classic media formats. The goal is to make the release useful for several kinds of retro players: DOSBox users, real MS-DOS computer owners, and collectors who enjoy running software from physical disks.

- 360 KB 5.25" floppy disk image for older floppy setups.
- 720 KB 3.5" floppy disk image for compact retro disk releases.
- Community tools for map creation and sprite editing.
- Complete documentation for the game, tools and release package.
Not only a game, but a small toolkit
Grand Prix 2D was not built as a closed package. The archive also includes tools that can be used by the community to experiment with custom maps and sprites. That means the release is not only something to play, but also something to study, modify and build upon.
This fits the spirit of the project: small DOS games, practical tools, real hardware testing and a bit of fantasy around what a tiny independent retro studio could have released back in the day.
For DOSBox and real machines
If you are using DOSBox, the easiest path is to extract the archive, mount the folder and run the game directly. If you are using real hardware, the included floppy images can be written to suitable disks and tested on an actual MS-DOS computer.
The release was prepared with old machines in mind. Real hardware testing is part of the Grand Prix 2D development process, because a retro game should not only look old-school — it should also feel at home on the machines it was designed for.
